Like I said before, the steps are fairly easy. Here’s what you do:

  1. Download NBTedit. (Download is below)
  2. Open NBTedit.
  3. Point NBTedit to your world save.
  4. Select “level.dat”
  5. Expand the data.
  6. Double click “game type”.
  7. Here’s where you change some values:

This was in the good ol' days when TooManyItems didn't have that and this was the only way to do it :P

people no need to download anything i have found a easy way to do this .

    all you do is this

    1. %appdata% go to Roaming folder . then .Minecraft folder
    2. go to save folder find the world you wish to convert open it
    3. now look for level.dat_old delete it
    4. then look for the file that is (level ) but is in video cd movie format
    5. replace this file from another saved world
so if you want a creative world converting just find a survival world save and copy the level file that is in video cd movie format . paste it to your world save you want to convert and replace file . and thats it done
close all folders down and open minecraft TIME TO PLAY :)
one more thing replacing the file will name the save the same as the other one but you can tell apart from sub name they are givien so you can click on it then at the bottom it says rename .
